Bob Berchem To Receive Fairfield University Basketball’s Stags Distinguished Service Award

Fairfield University basketball is set to recognize five “Leaders of the Herd” on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Manhattan Club in New York City. Award-winning sports commentators Len Elmore, Jackie MacMullan and Bob Wolff are recipients of the third annual Stags Lifetime Achievement Award for long and meritorious service. This year’s Stags Distinguished Service Awards will be presented to Bob Berchem ’62 and Tabitha Brickhouse-Fortt ’90.

Bob Berchem has remained active at Fairfield University by holding various leadership positions. He served as a Fairfield University trustee and facilitated arrangements for the University’s continued use of Webster Bank Arena for varsity competition. He has been a member of The President’s Circle since 1981, and was chairman in 1989.

He is principal and president of Berchem Moses, & Devlin PC Berchem continues to enjoy an active role on the Fairfield University campus through his service to students and administration. He graduated with a degree from Fairfield University in 1962 becoming the first in his family to earn a college degree. He was awarded a full scholarship to Villanova University School of Law where he received his J.D. in 1965, finishing first in his class. He then received a William W. Cook Fellowship to the University of Michigan’s Law School, where he received his Master of Laws degree in 1967.

“I am pleased to honor Bob and Tabitha for their commitment to Fairfield University as well as their support of our athletic program,” commented Fairfield Director of Athletics Gene Doris. “Both have been an integral part of the success enjoyed by our men’s and women’s basketball teams over the years.”
