The Sterling House is a community center based in Stratford, Connecticut. For almost 90 years, they have welcomed and served generations of children and adults. The organization offers programs such as preschool, after school, summer day camp, athletics, food pantry, and other services.

Berchem recently taught a course on civil liability at the Milford Police Department Regional Training Facility to 37 police officer recruits following his certification as an instructor by the State of Connecticut Police Officer Standards & Training Council.
